The Massachusetts State Police (MSP) is the principal statewide law enforcement agency in the Commonwealth. We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified individual to fill the position of Public Affairs Director. This individual will spearhead efforts to manage and enhance the Department's internal and external public affairs, relationships with key stakeholders and develop effective messaging and communication strategies.
Under the direction of the Office of the Superintendent, the incumbent develops, implements, and guides the Department's comprehensive public affairs strategies and contributes to the training, supervision and evaluation of the staff and functions related to public affairs. The Public Affairs Director develops priorities, goals, policies and procedures to assure consistency of messages related to the MSP public affairs objectives; produces and oversees the implementation of communication plans related to significant MSP events; participates in identification of new strategic public affair opportunities; oversees the production of news and information content for the MSP intranet and internet websites, and provides articles, essays, and other material for publication.
Duties and Responsibilities:
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) six (6) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management of which (B) at least two (2) years must have been in a project management, supervisory or managerial capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.
