Job Title: Public Health Program Specialist Location: 930 Wildwood Drive Jefferson City Mo. 65109 Duration: 08/01/2024 End: 06/30/2026 Pay Range: $30.00/HR - $40.00/HRType of Employment: Full Time Work Schedule: Days and hours to be worked: Monday thru Friday 8-5 Weekend or evening work required: On occasion weekend or evening work will be necessary Travel required: Travel throughout the state is required with occasional travel for out-of-state training opportunitiesGeneral summary
  • This is a second-level professional position responsible for planning, promoting, implementing, or evaluating a public health program, service, or grant; or implementing environmentally influenced public health laws and regulations.
  • At this level, employees provide assistance and guidance to partners, contractors, and agencies involved in program implementation; and perform day-to-day program activities including conducting inspections and surveys, assisting in budget development, and participating in or leading public health events.
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
  • In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of individual and community health problems related to public health programs. Ability to work with considerable independence performing a wide range of duties to support the program.
Preferred qualifications/skills:
  • This is a highly responsible position requiring the contracted employee to work with a broad range of partners and stakeholders with varying levels of knowledge and expertise.
  • The contracted employee must have strong communication skills.
  • The contracted employee must also be willing to work as a team with staff and other program managers.
  • Proficiency in commonly used office computer programs is also required.
  • The contracted employee should have experience developing training materials, including PowerPoints, handouts, and quizzes.
  • The contracted employee must be able to accomplish program goals.
  • The contracted employee will work with Statewide CHW Advisory Committee.
  • Seek growth and development opportunities, and decide on special projects to pursue.
  • Research, draft and submit grant deliverables and their associated measures.
  • Assure timely preparation of federal reports, program updates, contracts and/or amendments to procure program services.
  • Monitor contracts to assure deliverables are met.
  • Background knowledge of chronic disease and recommended preventative care preferred.
  • Experience working with community partners and coalitions preferred.
  • Experience developing and strengthening internal and external partnerships.
