Job Title: Public Health Program Specialist Location: Jefferson City, MO (with potential remote consideration after initial period) Duration: December 1, 2024 - September 30, 2026 Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (occasional evening and weekend work as needed) Job Summary: The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) seeks a dedicated and highly skilled Public Health Program Specialist to support community health initiatives and drive program success. Based in Jefferson City, MO, this role involves working with a range of partners and stakeholders to advance public health goals. This full-time position is critical for developing and managing public health programs, fostering partnerships, and ensuring compliance with federal and state guidelines. Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management:
- Collaborate with the Statewide Community Health Worker Advisory Committee to achieve program objectives.
- Research, draft, and submit grant deliverables, reports, program updates, and other necessary documentation.
- Monitor contracts to ensure all deliverables are met and adhere to federal reporting standards.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement special projects in alignment with public health goals.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Build and strengthen partnerships with community organizations, coalitions, and public health stakeholders.
- Serve as a liaison, facilitating effective communication and collaboration across various groups.
- Training and Development:
- Develop comprehensive training materials, including PowerPoint presentations, handouts, and quizzes for staff and partners.
- Identify growth and development opportunities within the program, recommending specific initiatives for continuous improvement.
- Administrative Duties:
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of federal reports, contracts, and amendments.
- Oversee program-related procurement services and budget management, in coordination with relevant departments.
- Conduct background research and analysis on chronic disease and preventive care trends to inform program strategies.
Qualifications:

- Strong communication skills with an ability to work effectively within a team.
- Proficiency in commonly used office software and tools.
- Experience in developing and delivering training materials and resources.
- Knowledge of chronic disease management, preventive care, and public health best practices.
- Proven experience in contract and grant management, including preparing reports and program updates.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing partnerships with community groups and coalitions.
Work Environment and Requirements:
- Location: Primarily based in Jefferson City, MO, with occasional travel throughout Missouri. Out-of-state travel for training may be required.
- Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
