Minimum Qualifications NY HELPS: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, candidates may be hired via a non-competitive appointment if they meet the below NY HELPS minimum qualifications.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
NON-COMPETITIVE QUALIFICATIONS:
Trainee 1: A bachelor's degree in media, new media, English, communications, journalism, broadcasting, public relations, films, TV productions, or digital marketing.
Trainee 2: A bachelor's degree in media, new media, English, communications, journalism, broadcasting, public relations, films, TV productions, or digital marketing and one year of experience in public or governmental relations, and/or in writing or producing content for various media.
For the Full Performance Level: A bachelor's degree in media, new media, English, communications, journalism, broadcasting, public relations, films, TV productions, or digital marketing AND two years of experience in public or governmental relations, and/or in writing or producing content for various media;
Or 2. a master's or higher degree in media, new media, English, communications, journalism, broadcasting, public relations, films, TV productions, or digital marketing AND one year of experience in public or governmental relations, and/or in writing or producing content for various media;
Or 3. six years of the experience in public or governmental relations, and/or in writing or producing content for various media.

Duties Description The incumbent will assist in the development of content to promote the Agency's programs and services across multiple platforms. Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Supporting all communications needs of the agency, including monitoring news sources for related content, drafting, editing, graphic design, disseminating written materials, press releases, public awareness campaigns, and publications.
* Maintaining social media channels, including creating and publishing content.
* Monitoring and tracking feedback related to agency programs and initiatives.
* Capturing and analyzing social and digital media metrics to assist in addressing issues.
* Creating and editing publications, graphics and other materials using InDesign.
* Follow universal accessibility guidelines for documents and publications.
* Ensure that State branding standards are met.
* Optimize images and videos for the web and social media.
Additional Comments A full-time permanent appointment will be made. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to this title. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
