OverviewThe Public Works Technician II - Vactor will be responsible for driving and operating Vactor truck, leading crews in daily operations, cleaning of inlet and manhole debris, and all functions related to the inlet cleaning program. This is an essential position due to the importance of keeping the city's Storm Water lines open and functioning properly.Responsibilities Follow the Traffic control standards of as per the Texas MUTCD Work Zone Traffic Control Guide Set proper traffic control is in place at each job site using cones, barrel's arrow boards to ensure safety of general public and crews Operate Vactor control panel and lead crew in cleaning and flushing of inlets, cleaning of man holes and jet main lines to remove debris Ensure all safety protocols are followed and employees are wearing PPE Follow City policies and obey traffic laws while operating fleet vehicle and equipment Perform daily Pre/ post- trip inspections on all types of equipment and vehicles Perform weekly preventative maintenance of Vactor such as greasing, lubricating, cleaning inside of cab and washing Vactor Ability to respond after hours and weekend emergencies. Must work under emergency responses during and/ or after any city emergency event. Example: Hurricanes, tropical storms, ice storms or any other city emergency. All employees will work On-Call Duty rotation schedule Ability to lead a team Keep materials stocked in vehicles, communicate when supplies are low Must be able to work in high traffic areas, confined spaces and/ or elevated conditions; ability to evaluate safe work environments Communicate with internal and external customers Proper communication with Foreman, work coordinator, planner/ scheduler, and assistant director when give a request Complete daily reports and work orders; must be legible May be asked to perform other duties as assignedPosition Type and Typical Hours of Work Non exempt - Full-Time Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Thursday, 6:30 am - 5:30 pm or Tuesday - Friday, 06:30am - 5:30pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.
