PULMONARY DISEASE SERVICES MEDICAL DIRECTOR & TUBERCULOSIS CONTROLLER(Medical Services Deputy Director)HEALTH CARE AGENCY

The County of Orange and Health Care Agency (HCA) is dedicated to creating and supporting an environment that promotes the achievement of optimal individual, family, and community health.

THE PROGRAMOrange County Tuberculosis (TB) Control is housed within the HCA Pulmonary Disease Services (PDS) Program and provides diagnosis, treatment, and case management for residents with active TB disease. It also performs contact investigations to identify individuals exposed to active TB cases.THE OPPORTUNITYThe PDS Medical Director & TB Controller is a physician responsible for the clinical, scientific, and epidemiologic oversight of PDS Program activities, including developing, coordinating, interpreting, and executing TB policies within Orange County. This position requires collaboration with the Health Officer and other staff in managing public health-related emergencies.Job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide direct patient care in the TB Clinic as part of the clinical team.
  • Provide expert consultation to the medical community on protocols and care for persons with active TB disease.
  • Ensure compliance with TB reporting requirements and provide oversight for patient access to treatment.
  • Provide medical direction for large contact investigations.
  • Convene community groups to facilitate best practices related to TB care.
  • Educate staff and the medical community about TB disease trends and control strategies.
  • Consult with health department officials regarding TB control issues.
  • Take measures to prevent the spread of TB disease.
  • Provide clinical oversight over the Refugee Health Assessment Program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSThe ideal candidate will possess a valid Physician's and Surgeon's certificate issued by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California and will have completed a formal medical training program. Board Certification in Infectious Diseases or Pulmonary Medicine is desirable but not required.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES
