Pump Repair Technician/Machinist - Layne - Granite Construction Incorporated : Job Details

The Pump Repair Technician/ Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manually controlled machines under minimal supervision; skilled precision and bench work in the fabrication, maintenance, repair and alteration of water pumps and parts, tools and equipment. This position also maintains shop supply inventories and general order and cleanliness of the shop. Essential Job Accountabilities. Machines parts for pump settings. Disassembles and inspects pumps and reassembles vertical turbine pumps. Builds and fabricates parts for rig repairs. Assists in maintaining shop inventory. Maintains/directs overall housekeeping activities in the shop. Reads and interprets blueprints, using gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements. Uses precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw, push and pull broaches and a variety of cutting tools and equipment.
