Job Type Full-timeDescriptionMISSIONTo assist in the production of the industry's highest-quality retreads by performing specific retreading job assignments per company specifications, standards, and time frames.ESSENTIAL DUTIESRetread:
- Inspect tires to be retreaded or repaired to determine condition, repairs needed, etc.
- Operate a buffing machine to remove treads from tires to be retreaded, following specifications for depth and width of removal
- Measure diameter and cross section to determine correct tread width
- Apply rubber cement to tire casing and select proper size tread rubber, applying it to the tire
- Place proper curing tube in tire and insert proper rim for curing
- Place tire in chamber and program correct curing temperature according to specification
- Set timer for proper curing time, make a record of each tire, showing size & curing time
- Remove finished retread from curing chamber and rim and curing bag from finished retreads
- Inspect tires to determine defects in curing, i.e. soft cures, ply separation, repairs missed, etc.
- Check finished tire with work order for proper identification and completion of work required
- Trim and paint finished retreads
Repair:
- Inspect tires to determine type of repair required, indicate repairs and mark, repair only
- Skive out and buff injury inside and out for proper size repair
- Apply proper cement to inside injury and build up repair using correct size repair patch
- Cover outside injury with layer of cushion gum and fill with tread gum
- Make final inspection of repair, cut tread design with regrooving iron, paint tire, tags, and place with finished stock
- Inspect repairs and lubricate equipment, following manufacturers' instructions to maintain in good operating condition
Other:
- Maintain standards of cleanliness, orderliness, and appearance of plant. Sweep floors and walls as necessary.
- Receive, unload and store in designated places: tread rubber, repair material, curing bags, etc.
- Maintain a stock of tread rubber and repair materials, advising management when replenishment is necessary
- Embrace Purcell's culture of safety and perform all jobs in a safe manner
- Regular attendance in accordance with assigned schedule
- Ability to perform physical requirements as listed in job description
- Other essential and non-essential duties, as assigned by management

- Other Job-Specific Licenses or Certifications Required: OSHA-Approved Forklift training a plus
