Job Description :
Purchasing Assistant is responsible for purchasing, inventory, distribution and record keeping for medications. Additionally, monitoring stock levels, researching potential vendors and tracking orders. Purchasing Assistant works closely with 340B Program Compliance Coordinator to ensure that all requirements and regulations are met. Job Responsibilities:-Purchases drugs and supplies in unit-dose packaging, if available.-Orders, purchases drugs, pharmaceuticals and all necessary supplies and materials as required.-Purchases and stores sufficient quantities of drugs, pharmaceuticals and all necessary supplies and materials to guarantee uninterrupted supply.-Takes actions necessary to obtain urgently needed supplies in the event of an emergency or supply problem.- Unpacks all orders, verifies packing slips, and places merchandise in its appropriate location(s).- Review all purchase orders, packing slips and invoices for their correctness.- Corrects all errors in shipment and pricing.- Returns merchandise as necessary and obtains credits-Purchases only those products which have been approved for use by the P&T Committee and have formulary status unless otherwise approved by the Pharmacy Administration.- Able to quickly and efficiently perform alternative duties when required.- Makes the most cost-effective purchases possible as per contractual agreements.- Maintains all ordering/purchasing records, agreements and contracts.- Orders directly from designated wholesalers and manufacturers as required- Verifies that all acquisition costs/prices are in agreement with hospital contracts and purchase agreements.- Takes advantage of group purchasing programs, direct purchase agreement laws.- Maintains a professional working relationship with manufacturers and their representative-Utilizes ethical and legal purchasing practices as per the policies and procedures of the hospital and department in accordance with applicable laws.- Maintains timely flow of paperwork that ensures discounts are not lost and reports are accurate.- Streamlines departmental procedures to ensure optimal efficiency, and productivity of services.-Makes sure all medications are scanned into EHS.- Complies with all DSCSA regulations and requirements- Complies with all 340B Program regulations and requirements- Maintains KOW records- Complies with all recalls notifications and maintains proper records- Prepares necessary quality reports to be presented at P&T Committee, Housewide Quality Committee, Board Quality Committee, etc.- Communicate backorders/shortages and stocking alternatives with pharmacy staff and affected departments- Collaborate with Pharmacy Administration and Clinicians to procure alternative products- Collaborate with purchasing department to establish alternatives vendors and routes of procurement-Responsible for all unit-dose and topical dosage form pre-packingRequired Experience:High School DiplomaKnowledge of Medical TerminologyComputer Skills (typing, Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, Power Point)Good organizational and communication skills1-year medication purchasing experienceSalary Range: $27.925/hr - $29.338/hr
