Overview:We are a leading modular building manufacturing company looking for a dedicated and organized Purchasing Assistant to join our dynamic team. As a Purchasing Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate procurement of materials, supporting the production schedule, and maintaining positive vendor and customer relationships.Key Responsibilities:
- Material Ordering: Learn to read and understand purchase orders, extract necessary information for material orders, and assist in takeoffs to ensure accurate and timely ordering.
- Macola System Training: Become proficient in using Macola to enter and receive purchase orders. Understand part numbers and maintain accurate usage and pricing records.
- Vendor/Customer Relations: Develop and maintain professional relationships with vendors and customers. Communicate pricing changes, discrepancies, and any issues effectively and professionally.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with foremen, sales, engineering, and other team members to communicate issues like price increases, product discontinuations, or delays in deliveries.
- Backorder Management: Run regular backorder reports for vendor, proactively contacting vendors for updates to prevent material shortages.
- Deadlines and Productions Schedule Coordination: Understand and meet deadlines to ensure smooth operation and align material orders with production schedules.
- Inventory Management: Ensure inventory levels are maintained, including managing overstock, working returns, and updating shortage trackers.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Review packing slips for discrepancies or backorders and address any issues with vendors.
- Lead Time and Vendor Accountability: Provide vendors with accurate lead times and hold them accountable for communication errors or delays.
- Organizational Skills: Maintain an organized work environment, keeping track of materials, inventory, and order documentation.
Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized.
- Proficiency or willingness to learn Macola (training provided).
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with vendors, customers, and team members.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
- A positive, hardworking attitude and a willingness to take on responsibilities and grow in the role.
- Previous experience in purchasing or inventory management in a manufacturing environment is a plus but no required.
