Our client, a leading manufacturer in the valve industry, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Purchasing Clerk to join their supply chain team. This role is crucial in supporting the company's procurement processes by managing supplies, raw materials, and inventory records. The Purchasing Clerk will play an essential role in vendor relationship management, ensuring that purchasing activities align with business demands and contribute to cost-saving strategies. Key Responsibilities: - Provide administrative and clerical support to the purchasing department, including typing reports, memoranda, and other documents. - Conduct research on vendors to gather information on pricing, specifications, and other relevant data regarding goods and services. - Coordinate activities with vendors directly related to production needs. - Create and enter purchase orders based on inventory requirements or specific requisitions. - Monitor and track incoming orders, ensuring timely and accurate delivery. - Facilitate interdepartmental communication regarding the status of incoming materials. - Reconcile material inventory counts to maintain accurate records. - Maintain purchasing records within the ERP system (Syspro). - Assist with additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Purchasing Manager. Job Requirements Key Qualifications: - Proficient in computer skills, particularly with spreadsheet programs and ERP systems. - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. - Effective time management abilities. - Ability to read and understand written instructions, including purchase orders and requisitions. - Competent in writing professional correspondence and presenting information clearly in one-on-one and small group settings. - Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. - Ability to apply common sense and problem-solving skills to resolve issues and implement solutions. - Capable of working both independently and as part of a team in a collaborative, safety-oriented environment. Education and Experience: - High school diploma or GED equivalent required. - Experience in supply chain management or procurement preferred. - 1-3 years of experience in a clerical support role within a warehouse or manufacturing setting. - Forklift or other industrial power lift experience or certification is beneficial but not mandatory. Work Environment and Physical Demands: - This position is primarily office-based with some duties performed on the shop floor. - The role requires regular verbal communication and the ability to adjust focus visually, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception. - Physical presence is critical for this position, which operates during normal business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm). - The work environment may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and occasional outdoor conditions. The noise level is typically moderate.
