We are currently seeking a Purchasing Lead who will be responsible for leading the team providing purchasing services to the internal business partners to ensure simplified, cost effective, and strategic procurement outcomes. The Purchasing Lead is responsible for the purchase of material for running production and new projects. This position will oversee procurement of all localized parts as well as to challenge existing part/tooling setup for imported material. Key deliverables include driving the right supplier quality, cost and timing for new programs, cost efficiency, managing supply base, risk management and commodity strategies etc.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead purchasing team
- Map, evaluate and establish US supply base
- Set up agreements and source for local content
- Drive localization business case investigations and execution
- Lead negotiations at an optimal cost level
- Main contact for all commercial issues towards the suppliers
- Issue RFQ, Issue Purchase Order and Issue running changes
- Act on design changes within the projects
- Participate in the global commodity council, discussing strategy and projects to align with the Global Purchasing Team
- Establish understanding of the sourcing process and IT systems
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in applicable field or equivalent experience
- Computer skills (MS Office and especially Excel)
- 3-5 years of purchasing experience
- 1-2 years of leadership experience
- SAP Experience
- Automotive/Manufacturing experience a must – experience with metal parts (tubes, machining, casting, bearings) a plus
- Knowledge of the automotive industry and related systems and processes
- Strong negotiation skills
- Good understanding of purchasing processes and tactics
