Purchasing Manager - Raw Materials
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Purchasing Manager to lead Raw Material procurement activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials buying, specifically within the steel industry, and a proven track record of success in negotiating favorable contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of materials.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with company objectives.
- Manage the entire purchasing cycle, from sourcing and negotiation to order placement and delivery.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, conducting due diligence to ensure quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
- Manage supplier relationships, fostering strong partnerships and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Monitor market trends and commodity prices, anticipating potential supply disruptions and developing mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineering, production, and quality control, to understand material requirements and ensure timely delivery.
- Manage inventory levels, optimizing stock to meet production needs while minimizing carrying costs.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track purchasing performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team.
- Prepare and present regular reports on purchasing activities and performance to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, preferably within the forging or metalworking industry.
- Extensive knowledge of steel grades, specifications, and market dynamics is required.
- Proven track record of successful negotiation and contract management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Experience with ERP systems and purchasing software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong understanding of supply chain management principles.
- CPM or CPSM certification is a plus.
