Purchasing / Procurement Agent JOB SUMMARY We are seeking an experienced highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to manage the sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of trees across multiple states, including Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, and Tennessee. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying reliable suppliers, ensuring the timely delivery of quality trees, and maintaining adherence to budget constraints.Key duties include conducting market research to identify potential suppliers, building and managing strong supplier relationships, negotiating competitive prices, performing quality control to ensure high standards, and coordinating tree orders with other departments to streamline operations. The role demands strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills to effectively manage the procurement process and meet the needs of the company.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Market Research: Analyze market trends, plant availability, and pricing to identify the best sources for plants.
  • Supplier Management: Develop and maintain relationships with plant nurseries and growers, negotiating pricing and delivery terms.
  • Quality Control: Ensure quality standards are met by closely monitoring customer and sales team feedback.
  • Purchase Order Creation: Generate purchase orders for plants, specifying quantities, varieties, and delivery dates.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyze pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities with suppliers.
  • Logistics Coordination: Manage plant delivery schedules and coordinate with transportation providers.
  • Direct Ship Offerings: Maintain a list of trees not grown at our farm but readily available through our supplier network.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor degree or higher
  • 2+ years experience working in purchasing of plant materials
  • Plant Identification: Extensive knowledge of different plant varieties, their characteristics, and growing requirements.
  • Market Awareness: Understanding of current trends and fluctuations in the plant market.
  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate favorable pricing and delivery terms with suppliers.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data to monitor inventory levels, sales trends, and pricing.
  • Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers.
  • Procurement Expertise: Understanding of purchasing procedures and documentation.
HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40+ hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.NOTICE CHERRYLAKE, INC.
