Aseptic Quality Assurance Manager

Location: Richmond, VA

Salary: $95k-$110k annually + 10% bonus eligibility (relocation assistance available)

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (on-call flexibility required)

Team: 6 technicians and 1 document specialist

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead and develop the plant quality team while ensuring compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements. The role involves overseeing daily quality operations, driving continuous improvement, and supporting the successful installation of new equipment and lines at the facility. This position is ideal for candidates with a food or beverage background, particularly in aseptic manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the plant's food safety and quality operations in compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Maintain a robust food safety program, oversee sanitation processes, and ensure audit readiness.
  • Partner with plant operations to ensure adherence to preventive maintenance programs and specifications.
  • Lead investigations into non-conforming events, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Oversee laboratory activities, including analytical and microbiological testing, to ensure accurate and precise QC results.
  • Manage the facility's change control program and hold/release processes.
  • Monitor quality KPIs, prepare reports, and support annual budgeting processes.
  • Act as the point of contact for customer inquiries, complaints, and quality-related issues.
  • Develop and deliver food safety and quality training for plant personnel.
  • Lead plant readiness for regulatory visits, customer audits, and new product introductions.
  • Oversee Environmental Monitoring Programs (EMP) and ensure corrective actions are implemented when needed.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and development opportunities for the quality team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biological Sciences, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5-8 years of quality assurance experience in a food, beverage, or similar production environment.
  • 1+ years of leadership or managerial experience preferred.
  • Certifications such as PCQI, HACCP, and SQF Practitioner are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of cGMPs, laboratory processes, and food safety programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database tools for data analysis.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
