JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance / Quality Control Manager is responsible for developing and implementing analytical tests, inspections, quality assurance practices and leading a team of quality technicians to continually improve the production quality at the site.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
* Adhere to strict safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety guidelines to protect against potential hazards.
* Provides technical expertise and advises and presents findings and/or results to leaders related to quality risks, assessments and analytical results.
* Interface with representatives from laboratory vendors and associates.
* Tracking and monitoring of costs associated to identify areas for improved efficiency.
* Ensure that all regulatory compliance, including safety, environmental, and documentation requirements and all other data generated by the quality team meets legal, ethical, and quality control requirements.
* Quality Leadership
* Management of Quality Assurance Team at the facility level.
* Maintain the quality assurance and quality control program and quality related tasks, which may include developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs), product specifications and monitoring process conditions, including packaging, cultivation, facility, and environmental assessments.
* Assess a range of process activities to determine the quality, potency, and safety of cannabis products.
* Manage accuracy of all Variable Data Label (VDL) templates for the facility.
* cGMP compliance and facility audits
* Maintain site environmental, chemical, pest, and sanitation monitoring
* Report complaint trending and root cause analysis
* Accurately record and document monitoring results, including data analysis and interpretation.
* Analytical Testing of Cannabis
* Write cannabis testing standard operating procedures.
* Manage analytical issues associated with difficult matrices, such as cannabis concentrates and extracts.
* Provides technical guidance to others in resolving challenging issues relating to analytical methods.
* Keep track of testing supplies and reagents, order necessary consumables, and maintain an organized inventory system.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills ability to interact professionally at all levels of the organization, and external stakeholders.
* Minimum 3 years' experience managing direct reports in a production facility quality or laboratory related role.
* Minimum 3 years prior experience in an ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory (preferably cannabis).
* Must have a bachelor's degree or master's degree or equivalent in chemistry, biology, or related laboratory science.
* Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in scheduling and meeting deadlines.
* Advanced MS Office and Excel skills required and QMS experience.
* Results oriented, detail oriented, focused on continuous development, and effective time-management skills.
* Previous cannabis laboratory experience is HIGHLY desirable.
* Working understanding of laboratory data interpretation and evaluation of data usability.
* Thorough understanding of analytical technology, method development, method qualification/validation, and regulatory analytical requirements.
* Experience with NIR testing a plus.
* Knowledge of basic statistics used in data analysis.
* Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the cannabis industry.
* Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
* Must be approved by state agency to work in cannabis industry.
