What We're Seeking: DATCP currently has an opening for a 0.6 FTE Quality Assurance Specialist (Program & Policy Analyst) position within the Bureau of Laboratory Services. This is a permanent, part-time, position, expected to work 24 hours per week and is benefits eligible. Where We're Located: Each position is located at the Bureau of Laboratory Services Building situated on Madison's southeast side. We are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90 and Highway 51 for quick access to local restaurants, retail and service locations. Telecommuting Option: This position may have the ability to telecommute. An approved telecommuting agreement is required before an employee may telecommute. Approval of the employee's telecommuting agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the department. All DATCP employees who telecommute are required to live in Wisconsin. Position Summary This position functions as a quality assurance professional within the Quality Assurance Section (QAS) in the Bureau of Laboratory Services (BLS). This position performs a variety of tasks necessary to verify that the laboratory's quality system is functioning properly. The position assists with scheduling and performing annual internal audits across all sections and units of the lab and prepares comprehensive internal audit reports; and helps BLS prepare for external audits from the FDA, ISO, EPA, USDA, and accrediting bodies. This position will assist with maintaining control limits processes across all analytical units at BLS and coordinating the laboratory's proficiency testing program and equipment calibration. This position also serves as a Coordinator for the Quality Management System, Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and Temperature Monitoring System, assisting the QA Officer with the maintenance of all systems. This position is responsible for troubleshooting system issues and providing technical support to laboratory staff. This position will support Bureau plans and initiatives; and may be required to give expert testimony in court. Program and Policy Analyst - full position description Salary Information The classification of this position is Program and Policy Analyst, which is in schedule-range 07-04 with a starting pay of $28 per hour up to $33 per hour, commensurate with experience. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan. Job Details DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States. A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment. Qualifications Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:
  • Professional experience working in a testing laboratory setting.
  • Professional experience applying and interpreting accreditation standards or regulatory requirements to laboratory procedures and policies.
  • Professional experience performing quality assurance tasks with at least two of the following: auditing, document control and retention, or proficiency testing.
  • Professional experience working with any of the following software: laboratory information management system (LIMS), quality management software, or other laboratory management software or databases.
  • Professional experience using and maintaining laboratory equipment.
In addition, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:
  • Professional experience applying and interpreting ISO 17025 accreditation standards or regulatory requirements, such as FDA, USDA, or EPA, to testing laboratory procedures and policies.
  • Professional experience maintaining and administering a laboratory information management system (LIMS), quality management software, or other laboratory management software or databases.
  • Professional experience maintaining and organizing calibrations of laboratory equipment.
