Location: Hybrid (Must be local to Portsmouth, NH /w Travel Requirements)

Impact:

Join our Institutional Quality and Performance Assurance-Quality Support Services (IQPA-QSS) team and make a significant impact on LANL's institutional project and programmatic quality assurance requirements. Your expertise will directly contribute to the success of J-Division's Dynamic Structure Design and Engineering Group (J-2) Hydrotesting and Sub-critical Experiments.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Review and prepare procurement documentation for quality assurance, engineering, and control requirements
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate processes and procedures for an effective Quality Management System
  • Perform onsite Non-Conformance Report (NCR) investigations and verifications
  • Coordinate and conduct audits and surveillances of quality-affecting engineering, procurement, construction, and project work
  • Ensure quality assurance requirements are met during all phases of facility and equipment projects
  • Evaluate processes and procedures of sub-contractors
  • Support pressure vessel production activities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of nuclear codes and standards (e.g., 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE Order 414.1D, ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001)
  • Experience with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics
  • Effective communication skills across all organizational levels
  • Three years of experience as an American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (AWS-CWI)
  • Current or previous certifications in three or more NDE Level II Inspections (RT, UT, MT, PT, VT), Piping or Pressure Vessel Inspection, or Mechanical Inspections
  • Ability to obtain a Q-level clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in nuclear and non-nuclear facility quality assurance
  • Auditor training or certification
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Ability to obtain Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification
  • Familiarity with MS Office, Adobe Pro, and Blue Bean software
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality assurance, industrial systems engineering, or related field
  • 3-8 years of related experience, depending on position level
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Associates degree with extensive relevant experience may be considered

Additional Information:

  • Position commitment: 1 year, with possibility of extension and potential conversion
  • Travel requirements: Short-term visits to Midwest and Northeast locations
  • Work location: 100% remote with travel to contractor sites
  • Clearance: Q-clearance required (candidates able to obtain clearance may be considered)
  • Work schedule: Flexible, depending on sub-contractor requirements (4/10s or 5/8s)
  • Overtime: Possible
