DescriptionGeneral Summary Responsible for ensuring that Giovanni Food Company is following and adhering to its policies, procedures, GMP's and programs that protect our product. Directly supervises Lead Lab Technician & Quality Technicians. Responsible for coverage in the event the QA Manager is not present. In the event that the Quality Assurance Assistant Manager is unable to perform in their capacity, the Quality Manager will assume the job responsibilities. Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage lab and Quality Technicians.
- Supports Quality Manager to meet production schedules, quality, costs, safety, and GMPs as established by plan, budget, processing specification, company policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the review of all quality control paperwork to include but not limited to: batch sheets, process control sheets, and lab sheets throughout the course of the day. Check for accuracy in weights, procedures, and check offs.
- Respond appropriately to situations which could pose a food safety risk or compromise the quality or integrity of products
- Verify the cleanliness of machinery following glass breaks
- Assist with any state, federal or 3rd party inspections and take part in developing and implementing corrective actions.
- Assist with consumer complaints as necessary.
- Evaluate food safety concerns in facility and assist with implementing programs to eliminate hazards.
- Perform daily inspections of the facility
- Assist with employee training
- Perform a daily, pre-operative inspection of plant, including efficiency of sanitation as needed.
- Ensure accurate and updated SOP's are on file at all times; compose and revise as needed.
- Conduct monthly food safety audit of the plant ensuring food safety compliance.
- Ensure lab technicians are adequately trained and following procedures
- Continually evaluate the skills and training needs of all laboratory and production associates and recommend appropriate actions and training programs for continued education.
- Attend and participate in the production meeting.
- Order QA lab supplies as needed.
- Perform other duties as needed or requested by management.
RequirementsEducation Requirements Associates degree required, preferably in Food Science; Bachelor's degree preferred. Previous Experience Requirement At least 1-5 years supervisory related experience in a manufacturing environment and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous Food Manufacturing experience required. Knowledge and Skills Needed to Perform Effectively in this Position

- Mathematical aptitude sufficient enough to perform the duties of the position.
- Good organizing skills.
- A high degree of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel).
