Company DescriptionCanam Bridges designs, manufactures and installs steel bridges for major infrastructure contractors across North America. Canam Bridges is a member of Canam Group, which has over 5,100 employees and operates 22 plants in North America, as well as engineering offices in Canada, Romania, India and the Philippines.Job DescriptionResponsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards, AWS, CWB, shop drawings, weld-maps and tolerances as specified in the quality assurance manual. Inspect welded product and dimensions. Document inspections on required QC forms and drawings.Essential Functions:
  • Monitor welding on a spot check basis.
  • Monitor welding procedures on a spot check basis (weekly) and records the results.
  • Responsible for completing the inspection and test plan.
  • Perform dimensional inspection and visual inspection (excluding finished welds).
  • Perform non-destructive testing (if qualified).
  • Take notes of all non-executed processes of inspection.
  • Inspect products for quality assurance standards using current methodology and techniques.
  • Communicate routinely throughout the day with production leads, supervisors, and Quality Control Manager.
  • Provide technical and operation support and/or services to ensure quality assurance standards are met in providing support to various project tasks.
  • Assess and train new employees as necessary.
  • Assist other employees in the performance of their duties as necessary.
  • Work under the direction of the Quality Control Manager.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
  • CWI Required
  • Five (5) years welding experience.
  • Possess math skills in imperial and metric systems.
  • Read measuring tape, add and subtract simple fractions and decimals.
  • Read and interpret work orders, job specification sheets and approved shop drawings.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision and as a team member.
  • Lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Read and speak English
  • Experience in structural steel operations (preferred)
  • High school diploma (preferred).
