Performs Magnetic Particle Inspection testing on induction hardened gears per customer requirements. Can interpret blueprints and uses experience in manufacturing and problem-solving skills to determine best route of success for material and products with non-conforming quality issues. Works with internal departments and external customers/suppliers on corrective actions, credit requests, and generates data on repeat issues to be fixed. Has a goal to improve the company from a Quality perspective and motivates operators to have the same goal. Role & Responsibilities: Blueprint reading, GD&T, Excel, ERP systems Magnetic Particle Inspections Knowledge of castings for steel and iron raw material. Understand manufacturing processes: Turning, Milling, Gear cutting, and Heat treating. Disposition non-conforming products Analysis of non-conforming issues and present to upper management Develop and use root cause analysis to implement quality improvement processes to meet and exceed quality objectives to support engineering and production through new and post part review processes. Works with suppliers and vendors to ensure quality of all purchased materials or products. Investigates and corrects supplier/vendor issues relating to quality. Responsible for credit/debit program to collect upgrade costs on poor material. First Article (PPAP) paperwork for submission• Other Misc. quality functions Work Environment/Physical Demands: This position operates within the CMM inspection room and has a heavy presence on the manufacturing floor. Employee will be responsible for looking at all angles of parts in the machine and on pallets. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, copiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must lift up to fifty (50) lbs. occasionally. Education/Experience: 3 years Quality related experience in a CNC machining job shop environment Recommend: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering Recommend: Understanding of raw materials: castings, forgings, bar stock, plate materials Recommend: Understanding of CNC turning, CNC milling, Heat treat (carburization, quench & tempering, induction hardening, welding), and gear cutting (Shaping & Hobbing) Skills/Abilities: Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong communication skills with external customers/suppliers Attentive to detail; organized. Strong analytical and root-cause capabilities and proactive drive to corrective action Experienced in Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques Ability to work independently Ability to take initiative, to maintain confidentiality, to meet deadlines, and to work in a team environment Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related accounting, HR and sales software. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Hourly M-F - 6:00am - 2:30pm with overtime depending on demand Overtime as needed (during the work week, M-F) Travel As-needed (~1-2 times/year) Local shops (~1 time/month) Salary Description $25.00-$30.00 per hour
