Quality Control Intern - Calportland : Job Details

Job SummaryCalPortland is seeking a summer in the materials division. This internship is ideal for a student interested in construction management, mechanical, or civil engineering. The intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of heavy civil projects and mine planning.Compensation$22-$26/hr DOEResponsibilities

• Complete Safety and MSHA training and any other site/job specific required training
• Carry-out and practice all safety practices per MSHA/company rules and regulations
• Assist QC Manager with all tasks including collecting aggregate samples from Yard, lab work, worksite duties, observe testing techniques on-site, be able to direct concrete trucks on site according to a laid out plan, inputting data from testing, etc.
• Learn about other CalPortland departments and interface as required
• Attend summer intern orientation event at corporate headquarters in Glendora, CA
• Perform plant tasks as assigned

EducationCurrently pursuing Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or other Engineering related disciplineRequirements/Qualifications•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint•Good attendance and punctual •Ability to work independently and in a team setting•Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and perform physical labor in inclement weather•Must possess a valid driver's license, insurance and be insurable to drive company vehiclesPreferred: Prior experience or internship in the construction or building materials industryConditions of EmploymentSuccessful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
