Hayward designs, manufactures, and markets a full line of residential and commercial pool and spa equipment including pumps, filters, heating, cleaners, salt chlorinators, automation, lighting, safety, flow control and energy solutions at our company owned facilities. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China.?This position is based in Clemmons, NC. This position is 2nd shift, 3:00pm - 11:00pm.
Position Overview:
QA Inspectors ensure that pool assembly component or finished goods manufactured at the Clemmons facility are in accordance with current Acceptable Manufacturing Practices and meet internal specifications. This position will spend the majority of their time performing manual and automated quality assurance checks on in-process component and finished goods and system audits. Checks include but are not limited to: detailed visual and dimensional inspection of injection molded parts or subassemblies for conformance to BOMs, Manufacturing Standard Work, QA Instructions, approved samples and engineering blueprints.
Strong organizational skills, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision and respond to customer demands in a timely fashion are critical requirements of this position. Working with minimal supervision, especially on the off-shifts, requires that personnel understand and comply with Hayward policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Confers with operators, supervisors or engineering representatives to determine and enforce quality standards.
- Uses a wide variety of gages, tools and other measuring devices.
- Performs visual and dimensional inspections/testing.
- Identifies, investigates and prepares reports as required for quality issues (Hold Tickets, NCMRs, and Problem Slips.
- Performing visual, 1st piece or full inspections on components, finished goods and physical testing
- Generates Material Review Report when items are found which deviate from established QA standards. As appropriate, reports are distributed to management.
- Enters data to track part history, in-house efficiency and defect rates, etc., into computer.
- Performs First Piece inspections or additional studies as requested.
- Maintain effective communications and partnerships with functional departments (Molding, Manufacturing, and Assembly).
- Maintains good housekeeping practices and performs duties in a safe and efficient manner so as not to inflict injury to self or others.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Two year certificate in a scientific discipline from an accredited college or technical school required. Candidates with a High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 2-3 years QA experience in a manufacturing environment will be considered.
Essential Skills/Competencies:
- Proficient with a wide variety of dimensional measurement equipment including calipers, coordinate measurement machine, micrometer, height gauge, fixed gages, and flow/pressure gages.
- Excellent blueprint reading capability.
- Familiarity with injection molding, outsourcing and manufacturing assembly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, safety rules and operating instructions.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before supervisors and other employees.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals and ability to compute ratio and percent.
- Have a strong understanding of quality concepts and requirements.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand fluent English.
- Must have a basic fundamental understanding of mathematics.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite; Excel spreadsheets and Word documents.
- Able to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness while completing work in a timely manner.

- Excellent interpersonal skills are required to address quality compliance issues with other departments such as Planning, Production, Purchasing, Engineering, etc.
- Working knowledge of SPC including using basic formulas to recalculate Process Control Limits.
- Proficient in the use of word processing and spreadsheet software including Microsoft Word, Excel and AS400.
- Ability to learn new applications as required.
- Must be safety and quality conscious.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. Sufficient dexterity is required to handle small parts, sensitive instruments and other machine controls. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include good color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and work in an area with flammable materials. The noise level in the work environment can range from moderate to noisy in the production areas. Safety glasses are required while on the plant floor.
