Job DescriptionPrimary Duties & ResponsibilitiesIn support of, and under supervision of the Quality Control Supervisor, the Inspector 1 can understand and apply the principles and techniques which make up the body of knowledge in Inspection. These principles and techniques include, but are not limited, to: Use of various Inspection Tools and Equipment, Blueprint Reading, Handling Materials, Understanding Processes, Statistical Quality Control methods, Sampling and Sampling Plans, Prepare and Package optics for shipment, Visual Inspection of optical surfaces, Organizing and Maintaining files for QC documents including Scanning. The Inspector I has the responsibility for the action required for:
- Following instructions and communicating with others.
- Use of various Inspection tools and test equipment including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, surface quality standards, test plates, interferometer, Laser Marker, etc.
- Understands blueprints, test procedures and various Quality standards.
- Clean, handle, prepare and package optical components. Visual inspection of optical components.
- Use sampling plans and follow RITR instructions during receiving inspection.
- Organize and Maintain QC documents by scanning and/or filing.
Hands-on Inspection - 50%
- Learns to perform the following:
- Receiving inspection and test
- In-process inspection
- Final inspection and test
- Quality records maintenance
Material Handling and Safety - 10%
- Become familiar with the handling practices of optical components without causing damage
- Able to clean and package optical components without causing damage
- Follow Company safety rules and procedures
Tools - 10%
- Use calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, hand tools, height gauges, calculators, electronic gauges, light sources, spectrometers, interferometers, personal computers and test equipment for various products
Prints & Specifications - 10%
- Able to read and understand various prints, specifications, and Military Specifications
Paperwork and Record Keeping - 10%
- Able to enter data into various data bases on the computer
- Follow routers and work orders
- File and scan documentation
Education & Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in one or more branches of Quality Control, Quality Assurance or optical manufacturing
- High School degree.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills.
- Work effectively with other members of Coherent A&D Team.
Working Conditions
- Typically works in an Inspection lab environment with some time in an office near the work areas. Work in other manufacturing areas can occur frequently. Some work requires the use of hazardous chemicals.
