Snyder Industries, Inc., has openings for a Quality Inspector- MPI. An industry leader with over 50 years of experience, we specialize in providing high quality components for the heavy equipment industry utilizing our updated mills, lathes, gear and heat treating/induction machinery. We set the bar high for both safety and cleanliness. Objective: The Quality Inspector understands and can interpret blueprints for CNC steel and iron machined parts. Responsible for using Magnetic Particle Inspection on Induction hardened gears and other machined components to meet customer quality requirements. Responsible for internal calibration system and maintaining calibration ISO requirements. Serve as a back up for part dispositions or operation of the CMM. Requirements Role & Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Magnetic Particle Inspection Calibrations of internal gauges and micrometers Basic repairs of gauges and micrometers Blueprint reading, GD&T, Excel, ERP systems. Understand manufacturing processes: Turning, Milling, Gear cutting, and Heat treating. Back up to dispositions of non-conforming products Back up to CMM operations Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities) Class 2 MPI Inspection certification 3 years Quality related experience in a CNC machining job shop environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong communication skills with external customers/suppliers Attentive to detail; organized Strong analytical and root-cause capabilities and proactive drive to corrective action Experienced in Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques Ability to work independently Ability to take initiative, to maintain confidentiality, to meet deadlines, and to work in a team environment Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related accounting, HR and sales software. Recommend: Understanding of raw materials: castings, forgings, bar stock, plate materials Recommend: Understanding of CNC turning, CNC milling, Heat treat (carburization, quench & tempering, induction hardening, welding), and gear cutting (Shaping & Hobbing) Work Environment/Physical Demands This position operates within the CMM inspection room and has a heavy presence on the manufacturing floor. Employee will be responsible for looking at all angles of parts in the machine and on pallets. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, copiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must lift up to fifty (50) lbs. occasionally.
