Akkodis is seeking a Quality Inspector for the Rail/Locomotive Industry in St. Louis, MO. This position requires 2+ years of Quality Inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Rate: $35 - $38/hour
- Duration: 9+ months with probable extension and possibility for Conversion to Direct Hire
- Location: St. Louis, MO
Responsibilities:
- Performs Quality Control (QC) inspection, inbound & outbound, documentation of defects and buybacks on parts and sub-assemblies of rail locomotive & engine.
- Performs visual inspection of parts and equipment to ensure conformance to quality standards and to identify non-conformance where it occurs (NCR).
- Performs all work according to engineering drawings, written work procedures, and verbal and written instructions.
- Uses scales, tape, calipers, micrometer, combination-square and other measuring equipment to inspect parts, equipment, and their proper installation to loco car body or other.
- Records data and findings from inspections, in formal reports and related documentation with a high degree of accuracy, completeness, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrates an excellent mechanical aptitude, or progressive mechanical experience in rail car manufacturing and/or maintenance repair facilities.
- Maintain and review all quality control inspection documentation (History Book).
- Perform some inspections on supplier site.
- The QC Inspector must be able to read and interpret all engineering drawings and blueprints and has a demonstrated proficiency in all inspection phases listed below:
- Part Fabrication
- Receiving
- Sub Assembly
- Shell Assembly
- Truck Assembly & Test
- Interior and Cab
- Exterior
- Under-Frame
Qualifications:
- Safety Follows all safety policies & rules
- Must have, at minimum, two (2) years work experience in a QC Inspection field or equivalent.
- Must be able to work independently and to conduct the final inspection of an entire locomotive.
- Must be capable of using measuring instruments including, but not limited to, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, etc.
- Must be capable of working in an active manufacturing environment, be able to climb stairs and ladders
- Ability to use computer-based systems including document control and job related applications
- Knowledge of AAR/FRA locomotive requirements (optional)
