Quality & Lean Operations Specialist

Polytek Development Corp. is a leading manufacturer of mold making and casting materials. Polytek is currently looking for a highly motivated, experienced, and extremely organized individual to join our rapidly expanding company.

The Polytek Quality & Lean Operations Specialist is part of the KZOO operation's leadership team. The position leads the execution and deployment of the site quality plan, serves as the management representative for the Quality Management System, champions cross-functional resources to ensure product flow consistent with established industry standards, government regulations and customer requirements. Provides total quality leadership to customers, suppliers, partners and all internal stakeholders with the ultimate goal of continuous improvement in process, product, and quality. Lead the Polytek CI strategy and build continuous improvement competency. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and develop the continuous improvement plan that enables the execution of the Polytek strategic plan, impacting 5 manufacturing sites across the U.S.

Essential Job Functions:

Major tasks and other key responsibilities include:

* Lead the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the quality management system requirements. This will include quality system standards such as ISO 9001, IATF, PQMS (Polytek Quality Management System), customer required standards plus any other applicable requirements.

* Develop and champion the internal audit process, audit schedule, train cross-functional team members, facilitate internal audit execution, prepare outcome summary and lead corrective actions /continuous improvement.

* Act as a voice of customer as well as primary contact for external as well as internal customers ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction including customer complaint resolution and corrective / preventive actions.

* Manage the Quality / Customer interface to proactively assure customer requirements are understood, incorporated in processes / procedures, satisfied & validated.

* Manage Quality organization support to Supply Chain management organization relative to evaluation, selection, approval, and validation of suppliers.

* Identify high-priority areas for improvement from annual plant level value stream mapping to ensuring CI efforts are aligned and fully support strategic goals.

* Build CI organizational capability and develop local CI Tool Champions by providing leadership, training, and support.

* Responsible for driving quality management systems and manufacturing compliance to agency requirements improving the cost of non-conformance and leading teams to reduce customer complaints.

* Auditing the plant processes to ensure both internal and external regulations and standards are being adhered to and kept up to date.

* Drive continuous improvement of core processes to ensure manufacturing quality is maintained while efficiency is optimized

* Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes, measuring production, documenting evidence, determining operational and performance qualification, and writing and updating quality assurance procedures.

* Train production staff on quality procedures, protocols, and documentation

* Develop standard measurements for processes

* Create reports documenting errors and issues for fixing

* Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits, and investigating customer complaints.

* Collaborates with other members of staff to develop new manufacturing and training methods.

* All other duties, as assigned.

* Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and perform repetitive tasks.

* Must be able to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.

* Must be able to bend, squat, walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and repeatedly ascend/descend short flights of stairs/ladders for a full shift.

* Must be able to talk, hear and see with vision abilities including close/near, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

* Must wear job-specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for entirety of shift.

Education and Experience:

* Associates Degree in appropriate discipline. BA/BS a plus.

* Minimum 5 years progressive experience in manufacturing, quality, engineering and/or operational excellence.

* Experience with QA processes/standards

* Experience in problem solving methods (Lean, 8-D root cause analysis and associated tools) Ideal candidate is an experienced Lean practitioner.

* Knowledge of safety requirements and legal standards

* Significant knowledge of quality system requirements

* Experience with Microsoft Office applications

* Experience developing training methods and documentation
