POSITION SUMMARY:Responsible for leading and managing the quality assurance program for Table Rock Composite Specialties. Ensures standardization of process/quality control platforms and quality performance metrics. Responsible for the development of continuous improvement systems in safety, quality, reliability, cost and productivity. Achieves results by working closely with Timber Products Technical Director, manufacturing and sales staff, as well as customers and vendors. MAJOR TASKS: Develops site quality standards in conjunction with plant management, Sales and company Technical Director. Complies with all safety requirements as well as acts as an example of safe behaviors on a consistent basis. Determines departmental quality project plans and structured implementation schedules. Manages the progress of quality improvement projects. Works closely with Engineering and Maintenance staff regarding process controls and quality assurance equipment and practices. Guides the development of continuous improvement systems in safety, quality, reliability, cost and productivity. Leads and influences all levels of Timber Products staff to achieve desired results. Works closely with the manufacturing team to optimize processes and procedures. Reviews and analyzes customer claims to determine Root Cause with Action Plan for problem resolution(s). Performs in depth Root Cause Analysis of quality issues to minimize any substandard product from leaving the plant site. Participates in CAP (Corrective Action Plan) activities to document all corrective measures taken. Documents and communicates process observations that impact Safety, Quality, Reliability, and Operational success. Ensures proper measurement techniques and establish testing procedures are followed to determine finished product conformance to internal and published specifications. Travels to interface with customers as well as to other TP Manufacturing facilities when needed. Manages QA data entry activities and maintains a robust filing system supported by robust documentation. Coordinates third-party audits, testing, and equipment calibration. Fosters and champions Customer Centricity both internally and throughout the organization. Skills & Requirements SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Wood Products, industrial management, engineering or closely related field with a minimum of 5 years' experience in process engineering, quality management, continuous improvement, industrial engineering, or industrial management; or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Must have the ability to interact with others in a professional manner to address and resolve qualify issues and present information. Be a developer of committed Quality Teams. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of manufacturing processes including statistical quality engineering, inspection, auditing, calibration, and data analysis techniques required. Intermediate to advanced competency in statistics (SPC). Knowledgeable of Lean Manufacturing practices and committed to Lean implementation. Proficiency in the use of office software required: Excel spreadsheets, database, word processing and presentation software. Software programming language experience is a plus but not a requirement. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects at the same time to meet established timelines. Ability to work flexible hours and days as may be needed to complete required job responsibilities. Willing and capable of taking on additional duties as time allows and need require.
