Akkodis is looking for a Quality Resident Engineer in Wentzville, MO (3rd Shift), who will act as a liaison between client assembly plants and customer plants, ensuring quality standards, addressing issues, and supporting new product launches. This role will focus on improving customer satisfaction by proactively identifying and resolving concerns related to materials, product quality, equipment, and processes. The QRE will be on-site and responsible for immediate communication of customer dissatisfaction while maintaining established quality performance metrics. This position requires strong problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills to manage quality and engineering issues efficiently.
Pay Range: $35-$40/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Work Schedule: Sunday through Thursday, 10 PM – 6 AM (occasional weekends and OT)
Type: 10+ months contract
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary interface between client plants and customer assembly plants.
- Ensure prompt communication and resolution of customer concerns to minimize dissatisfaction.
- Conduct proactive line audits and monitor the handling and installation of Lear parts at customer facilities.
- Verify incoming materials against documented requirements and oversee sorting activities.
- Examine shipment contents and compare them with records to ensure accuracy.
- Provide technical support and collaborate with quality engineers, managers, and line operators to maintain and improve product quality.
- Facilitate issue resolution using 8D methodology and other problem-solving techniques.
- Support pre-production, product launch, and production activities at customer assembly plants.
- Assist in warranty activities and manage return material authorization (RMA) requests.
- Coordinate customer PPM (Parts Per Million), cost recovery, and supplier warranty indicators through daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
- Oversee control clean points at customer sites for quality complaints and engineering changes.
- Conduct inspections of suspect parts, including line-side reviews and incoming quality crib assessments.
- Support customer visits and meetings, providing updates on quality and warranty issues.
- Ensure compliance with Lean manufacturing principles in material verification and quality control processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of quality processes, problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5Why, etc.), and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to analyze and interpret quality metrics and reports.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with customers and internal teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Ability to work independently on-site and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and quality-related software.
- Willingness to work night shifts, occasional weekends, and overtime as required.
