SUMMARY

This position provides direct supervision, training and leadership to the Site's Quality Laboratory technical staff. The laboratory provides in process and finished product analytical testing, training and support for process unit and finished product testing for all units on site. The Quality Manager also provides oversight, testing methods, training, equipment maintenance and support to the Site's unit field labs. Also serves as focal point for ISO internal auditing for plant quality control process. This position also serves as the Quality Assurance and ISO9001 Manager for all Units at the Site.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

Quality Laboratory Manager

* Supervise Main Lab technicians and lead their onboarding and requalification training.

* Supervise and Coordinate activities related to QA analysis for in process and finished product samples.

* Compile and analyze test information. Confer with Operations/Technical on test interpretation.

* Develop analytical methods and parameters.

* Directs and advises personnel in special test procedures to analyze components and physical properties of materials.

* Review and test sample product accuracy - audit maintenance.

* Prepares test solutions, compounds, and reagents for use by laboratory personnel in conducting tests.

* Maintain test records and filing systems. Manage the retain SQC programs.

* Oversee maintenance of instruments for Main and field laboratories.

* Review and manage cost center for QA Laboratory

* Invoicing/ Purchasing - Service receipts, Goods Receipt, and purchasing reagents.

* Review and maintain Methods, calibration schedules, audit schedules, parameters and all systems in place in the laboratory.

* Oversee and Super user for LIMS Sample manager and SAP Quality Module

* Directly lead and /or oversee improvements projects.

* Compiles and analyzes test information to determine operating efficiency of process or equipment and to diagnose malfunctions.

* Conducts research to develop custom products and investigates complaints on existing products.

Quality Management Representative (QMR) for the Deer Park Facility's ISO 9001 Certified Quality Management System (QMS)

* Manage the QMS to obtain the Continual Certification to the ISO 9001 Standard: support implementation of site's goals process for continual improvement, develop continual improvement metrics, looking at risk and opportunities for QMS, and maintain Site's Document control systems and ISO documentation.

* Prepare for and Facilitate the Deer Park Facility ISO 9001 Management Review Meeting: including topics, QMS challenges reports, and Management Review records.

* Lead Auditor of the Deer Park Facility's ISO 9001 Certified QMS: manage QMS internal audit system, develop audit plans, write audit summary report, ensure corrective actions on QMS non-conformities, train new internal auditors, service as site coordinator for annul 3rd party ISO9001 audits and internal auditors for other sites.

* Manage the Corrective, Preventive, and Supplier Non-Conformance system for the site: identify and action quality systems corrective/preventative actions, maintain QMS customer complains improvement metric, manage supplier quality notifications systems, and work with procurement to evaluate performance and resolutions.

* Continual Improvement in Customer Satisfaction: improve customer complaint performance, prepare on-site customer supplier audits, and assist customer service and commercial teams on customer supplier questionnaires/agreements.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree in chemistry or equivalent degree required.

* Minimum of 8 years of related analytical laboratory experience and experience in the implementation and maintenance of Quality Management systems such as ISO9001.

* Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.

* Proficient computer skills, with good working knowledge of all standard company applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)

* Systems knowledge of SAP QM and LIMS preferred.

* Self-directed and motivated with strong leadership skills.

* Ability to make sound decisions based upon technical information.

* Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).

Flexible schedule: Option to work a 9/80 compressed work schedule, which allows an employee to work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. During site Gemba visits may need to climb stairs and ladders in order to access elevated structures. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Additionally, this position must make general decisions requiring judgement and perform activities requiring sustained concentration.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is sometimes moderate when working in an office, however, some of the work may be required in the operating units which mandates usage of required PPE including FR rated coveralls or lab coats, safety glasses and hearing protection. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may be required.
