Cudahy, WI location, you will be responsible for quality performance inspecting product, processes, materials and evaluating procedures in the assigned areas to ensure conformance to customer specification and company standards as required by ASME code. We are looking for an accountable, self-motivated candidate to apply strong practical expertise in ASME coded product to drive quality, delivery, and service improvements to our customers. Build, lead and manage quality actions and events to complete Root-Cause-Countermeasure (RCCM). Work with Production, Supply Chain and other department team members to identify and implement improvement initiatives.
AS A CERTIFIED WELD INSPECTOR, YOU WILL:- Oversee inspection and measurement of incoming raw materials (i.e. piping, tubing, steel plate, etc.), finished and in-process products to ensure compliance with dimensional, physical and visual requirements, check drawing and written instructions for established specifications. Verify that customer requirements and company quality standards are met as required by ASME code.
- Act as primary liaison with Authorized Inspector
- Complete and maintain all necessary company ASME documentation.
- Preparation of vessel job travelers for review by authorized inspector and release to manufacturing.
- Notify proper personnel when inspection data exceeds acceptable limits or when incidents of poor quality occur and generate appropriate nonconforming report documentation.
- Prepare and conduct welder certification tests to ASME, Section IX code requirements.
- Perform non-destructive testing. (MT, PT, Ultrasonic) and x-ray film interpretation.
- Audit quality manual and specifications for compliance to ASME code requirements
- Participate on cross functional teams to address and resolve quality problems and to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods.
- Travel to required sites to perform field inspection as required.
- Completion of other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Quality Manager.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS: - Current AWS CWI certificate
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on welding, fit-up & welding inspection
- Understanding of various weld techniques
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- working knowledge with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS: - Associates Degree in Welding Technology or equivalent
- Qualified to ASME weld requirements & ability to interpret and apply knowledge of ASME 31.3 & 31.5
- Track record of maintaining a strong safety record
- A broad knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Experience with CRN and PED requirements
