Summary:

The Level 2 Quality Technician is responsible for performing more advanced inspections, tests, and quality assurance tasks within the manufacturing process. This position builds on the foundational skills of a Level 1 Technician and involves greater responsibility in ensuring that products meet stringent quality standards. The Level 2 Quality Technician works closely with production teams, engineering, and senior quality staff to identify, document, and resolve quality issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspection & Testing:
  • Conduct detailed inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods using a variety of advanced measurement tools and techniques.
  • Interpret and analyze test results, making decisions on product conformity based on established criteria.
  • May participate in in activities to support the Gage calibration and R&R program.
  • Perform root cause analysis on quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • CMM operation including the fixturing of part, execution of program and data review.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions in the company's quality management system (QMS).
  • Prepare and present quality reports to management and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development and revision of quality control documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and control plans.
  • Support & Communication:
  • Act as a liaison between the quality department and production teams to ensure quality standards are consistently met.
  • Provide support and guidance to Level 1 Quality Technicians and production staff on quality procedures and best practices.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving activities.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with company quality policies, industry regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support as required. Role may support outside programs such as Environmental / Sustainability.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to safety protocols within the quality assurance process.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent technical training preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a quality control or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with advanced inspection tools and techniques, such as CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), optical comparators, or similar equipment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of quality control principles, measurement techniques, and industry standards. Knowledge of Environmental / Sustainability is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify and solve complex quality issues.
  • Proficiency in using various inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) and familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) methods.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical inspections of products and purchased parts that are at incoming, in-process, final or returned from customers.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with quality management software. ERP/MRP software experience preferred.
  • Ability to stand and be mobile throughout the workplace
  • Self- motivated, organized, mechanical minded, ability to take direction, manage multiple tasks at once, and good communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to [50 pounds], as required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise, dust, and machinery.
  • Weekly work schedule may require mild flexibility
  • May be required to work overtime or weekends as needed.
