Responsibilities:
Glassware Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Clean and sterilize glassware, equipment, and other laboratory tools used in all QC laboratories.
- Ensure that all glassware is free of contaminants and ready for use in laboratory testing.
Dishwasher Maintenance:
- Maintain detergents used in dishwashers and ensure they are appropriately stocked.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs of dishwashing units to ensure efficient operation.
Media and Reagent Preparation:
- Prepare media and reagents for laboratory use, following precise protocols.
- Log the receipt of purchased media and reagents, ensuring proper handling and storage.
Sample Disposal:
- Manage sample disposal after the completion of testing in compliance with laboratory safety and environmental regulations.
Autoclaving:
- Operate autoclaves for the sterilization of media, reagents, glassware, and waste, ensuring effective sterilization processes.
Inventory Management:
- Perform regular inventory checks and place orders for laboratory supplies, media, and reagents. Track and maintain laboratory stock levels to prevent shortages or overstocking.
Preventive Maintenance:
- Perform weekly and quarterly preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment, including water baths, incubators, and refrigerators.
- Ensure that equipment is functioning properly and meet quality control standards.
Basic Laboratory Equipment:
- Operate and maintain basic laboratory equipment such as balances, pH meters, and other instruments used for testing.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all laboratory tasks and document results accurately. Compare results with specifications and participate in investigations concerning out-of-specification results.
Education:
- Associate degree in a science-related field preferred, or high school diploma relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related science discipline is preferred.
