The Quarry Maintenance position is a challenging opportunity for a motivated individual to demonstrate their ability to multitask, work as a team and use their leadership skills within fast-paced mining environment. Reporting to the Quarry Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate ensures operation of Quarry Mobile and Stationary equipment by completing preventive maintenance and repair requirements on mobile equipment, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, and crushing systems.
Pay rate: $28.60/hour - $34.25/hour
Job Description
1. The Equipment Mechanic must be able to repair various pieces of quarry equipment including, but not limited to, scrapers, excavators, loaders, and haul trucks. May also service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment.
2. Must possess skills to efficiently and safely operate and troubleshoot malfunctions on Quarry mobile equipment and stationary crushing equipment from control screens and be able to evaluate mechanical problems with the equipment and communicate pertinent information following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
3. Must be willing and able to learn equipment operation and repair from instruction and self-study.
4. An Equipment Mechanic will conduct the daily maintenance operations of the Quarry, assist in the implementation of safety programs and maintain/contribute to production levels through improved equipment availabilities.
5. Must be able to train under and complete all required MSHA and OSHA reporting and compliance requirements. Must be able to follow OSHA and MSHA regulations.
6. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Must be available for overtime and call-ins as required.
7. Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. Remove defective parts by using hoists, cranes, and hand /power tools.
8. Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
9. Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
10. Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
11. Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions, requests and completing feedback documentation.
12. Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
13. Mechanical / Technical Understanding - mechanics, lubrication, understanding maintenance documents, pumps, bearings, piping systems, welding/cutting (stick, mig, tig and torch).
14. Hydraulic power transmission: basic hydraulics, hydraulic troubleshooting.
15. Participation in workplace organization and 5S Initiatives.
16. Willingness to support and/or participate on continuous improvement projects.
Qualifications
1. Safety and housekeeping are the first consideration in all activities. The employee must consistently demonstrate an understanding of all plant & departmental safety rules, standards, and programs.
2. Must have a safe work history, ability to safely operate quarry mobile equipment, and plant vehicles and regular and predictable attendance.
3. Have ability to understand verbal and written instructions from supervision and efficiently and effectively perform assigned tasks.
4. Responsible for maintaining a set of personal tools as specified in the operator rate program.
5. Demonstrate the ability to cooperate with other workers in the areas of safety, quality, and production/maintenance and understand importance of completing assigned tasks and their relationship to other requirements.
6. Must have prior work experience as a mobile equipment mechanic, preferably in a quarry environment.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
