Duties: Job Description: -The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional care giver who assumes responsibility of patients for a designated time frame and to provide care, specifically in the Invasive Lab. -The patient population consists of those requiring an invasive cardiology or invasive radiology study. -The Registered Radiologic Technologist will assist the physician in all procedures and provide a valuable service to the patient and the team. Essential Functions: -Administers contrast material (when applicable), according to physician's request, by means of existing IV line or by performing venipuncture and placing IV line; recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions. -Anticipates set-up and needs for invasive procedures. -Assists with inventory/supplies. -Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position. -Compiles pertinent clinical information pertaining to lab, pathology, etc. -Administers medication in compliance with scope of practice. -Documents accurately and completely. -Explains procedure to patient and provides for patient care- including comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality. -Performs all essential functions of the Invasive Lab Radiologic Technologist. -Performs on call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs. -Required to float to all procedural areas. -Maintains a clean and neat work area. -Demonstrates competence in the operation of imaging, physiological monitoring, and related equipment; Performs basic troubleshooting for this equipment. Department-Specific Job Functions: -Able to work around and maintain a sterile field during procedures. -Administers and with holds contrast and treatment as appropriate. -Assess patients for allergies. -Function as a scrub and monitor technician on a rotating basis during procedures. -Assists physician during interventional procedures. -Able to take call after 6 months of orientation. Skills: Required Skills & Experience: -Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care and procedures. -Ability to communicate effectively, follow directions, and complete detailed work accurately. -Demonstrates compassion and caring in dealing with others. -Manual dexterity to handle small supplies. Preferred Skills & Experience: - 1 year as general radiographer. Education: Required Education: -Associate's Degree in Related Field OR -Certificate in Radiologic Technology Preferred Education: -N/A Required Certifications & Licensure: -BLS (American Heart Assoc.) -ACLS (American Heart Assoc.) -IEMA Radiography License Illinois -Radiography (R)(ARRT) Preferred Certifications & Licensure: -N/A Schedule Notes: DAYS; M-F: 8am-430pm Required Skills: PATIENT CARE,RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST,RADIOLOGY,IMAGING,ACLS, Hours Per Day: 10.00 Hours Per Week: 40.00 Languages: English( Speak, Read, Write ) Department: BMC-CARDIAC CATH/SPECIAL PROCEDURE : 36-36313 Job Category: Clinical-Allied
