JOB SUMMARY # Acts as receptionist to outpatients and physicians coming into the department. #Relieves the radiologic technologists of such clerical duties as ordering of exams, preparing paperwork, directing phone calls, filing, coordination of work flow and assisting technologists as needed. Participate in performance improvement activities. Assists radiologic technologists with patient care.# # ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES # Performs a wide variety of typing assignments including requisitions, forms, etc.# Assists in gathering information for the preparation of reports, patient tests and billing. Ability to operate computer order entry system. Maintain record keeping and filing system of reports, films and requisitions according to departmental policies. #Classifies, sorts and files correspondence, records and other documents accordingly. #Purges files in accordance with policy. Have knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of other departments. Must be acquainted with local fire and safety regulations. Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Files and charts medical reports and related material. Maintains daily patient schedule. Makes discs for patients and sends images to other facilities. Assists technologists in patient care.# Assigns the proper patient consent form, if an injectable study is to be performed. Assists in locating patient files. Transports patients to and from the Imaging Service Department. Helps maintain and assist cleaning the department including stocking of front office supplies. Log patient images both in and out of the Imaging Department accurately.# # # POSITION QUALIFICATION # Education, #Experience # License # High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), required. BLS, required De-escalation is required within one year of#the position start.# # # Additional Skills # Must have typing, computer and related skills. Must have the ability to carry on many functions in an organized manner at the same time, i.e., answer phones, schedule exams, give verbal reports, create necessary paperwork. Must be able to understand written and oral instructions pertaining to scheduling and physician requests Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred. Basic computer knowledge.# # # Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
