Job Description:Job Title: Radiology Technician1st Shift PRNJob Description:A radiology technician, also known as a radiologic technologist, plays a crucial role in a hospital setting by assisting in diagnosing and treating patients through the use of medical imaging techniques. Operates x-ray equipment safely and performs all the tasks of patient services using imaging modalities, under direction of Director of Radiology and Radiologist.
- Executes ionizing radiation to patients to take x-ray images in the safest manner possible.
- Prepares room, equipment, and materials as needed for patients daily.
- Participates in CQI activities and provides input for improvement.
- Provides directions to patients regarding radiologic exams. Provides education to patients regarding their ordered exams.
- Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment after each exam.
- Maintains adequate and proper records.
- Prepares barium and other chemical mixtures for x-rays.
- Must pass initial competency test and yearly competency testing thereafter.
- Will assume other duties applicable to the operation of the Radiology Department as needed. Demonstrates flexibility of working hours to assure 24-hour departmental coverage, which may include on-call duty.
- Must maintain current BLS.
Essential Qualifications:- Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
- Registration or registry eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
- Current Radiation Operators Certification with the Kentucky Department of Human Resources
- BLS required.
