Job Type Part-timeDescriptionShift: PRN or Part Time, Flexible HoursJob Summary: Radiography experience required, CT experience preferred. Performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing imaging exams and procedures.
  • Responsible to the proper use of equipment to minimize hazards of electrical shock or burns to patients, self and others.
  • Responsible for safe handling of equipment and images.
  • Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic and CT examinations.
  • Selects appropriate equipment and techniques to minimize radiation to patients, self and others.
  • Determines most suitable anatomical positions and shields patients accordingly.
  • Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate provider contact for intervention.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
  • Performs imaging with CT scanner, portable and stationary x-ray equipment and produces quality images for a variety of examinations.
  • Utilize the RIS and PACS systems for optimal workflow.
  • Processes images without difficulty.
  • Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining files, basic records and reports.
  • Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel as needed.
  • Interacts professionally with providers, patients, family and visitors.
  • Is acquainted with local fire and safety regulations.
  • Has knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of other departments.
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including, pediatric, geriatric and general population.
  • Clearly marks images with patient demographics and laterality.
RequirementsProfessional Requirements:
  • Adheres to dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly with radiologists, providers, staff, administration, patients and visitors.
  • Completes annual educational requirements.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and CMS regulations.
  • Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.
  • Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized time/attendance system correctly.
  • Attends annual review and departmental in-services, as scheduled.
  • Attends staff meetings, reads all staff meeting minutes if absent from meeting.
  • Maintains hospital requirements, policies and standards of conduct.
  • Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding departmental operations, including; fire, safety and infection control.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, vision, core values, ethics and goals of the hospital. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
Regulatory Requirements:
  • High School graduate.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Certified by the State of Kansas to practice and administer radiation (or become certified within 1 year of hire date).
  • Current BLS certification.
