Job Description :
Candidates will have the option of five 8-hour day shifts or four 10-hour day shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. One night a week of on-call is required.
  • Position Summary
    • The Radiology Technologist I position integrates scientific knowledge and technical skill to yield high quality imaging to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. They administer excellent patient care relevant to the scope of Radiology practices and use sound judgement when making patient care decisions.
  • Education and Experience Requirements
    • EDUCATION:
      • Required:
        • Certificate from a two year approved school of radiology, a two year associate's degree, or a four year bachelor's degree
      • Preferred:
    • LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
      • Required:
        • ARRT board certified
        • Iowa Permit to Practice
        • BLS
      • Preferred:
    • TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
      • Required:
      • Preferred:
        • 6 months experience
  • Essential Job Functions
    • Demonstrates knowledge and competence in performing radiology procedures to meet the standards of care including patient positioning and proper use of technical factors.
    • Demonstrates knowledge and competence in the use of radiology equipment to include general radiography, fluoroscopy, c-arm and portable imaging. Also includes CT, DEXA and Mammography if applicable.
    • Demonstrates knowledge and competence in the functions and processes of Merge PACS to include burning CDs, electronically routing images and patient data editing.
    • Demonstrates knowledge and competence in Epic functions and processes.
    • Safely administers contrast medium agents and documents all pertinent information relevant to each exam.
    • Appropriately charges for exams and exam related expenses including contrast agents and supplies.
    • Follows radiation safety policies and procedures to ensure safe practices with self, fellow employees and the general public by using radiation safety techniques to include use of lead shielding, radiation dosimeters and implementing ALARA principles.
    • Disinfect exam rooms and radiology equipment after each use to promote infection prevention.
    • Actively participates in and complies with the monthly supply outdates process.
    • Engages in and contributes toward department specific quality outcomes.
    • Responds cooperatively to changes in the work schedule to include on-call duties, week-end and holiday rotations.
    • Actively participates in employee rounding sessions.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned.
