Hours may vary; rotating schedule, may include week days, week nights, weekends, holidays and/or as needed by the activities and services provided by the department.CLASSIFICATION STATUS: This position is unclassified under ORC 124.11(A)(29). An unclassified employee is not included in the classified service, is exempt from all required examinations and serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority. Duties/Responsibilities(These duties are illustrative only. Incumbents may perform some or all of these duties or other job-related duties as assigned.)Patrol areas in vehicles, on foot and on bikes to protect visitors, facilities, and property to include: enforcing park rules and the laws of Ohio, issuing warning and citations, serving arrest warrants, investigating accidents and criminal violations, enforcing traffic laws, inspecting buildings and facilities, and checking for required license and permits; interacts with park visitors, assist park visitors with information on the flora, fauna and history of park areas; acts as a liaison between the department and other agencies; performs undercover operations by doing surveillance and working plain clothes investigations; attends mandatory training and qualifications as well as training to further position as ranger; attend pre-trials and trials in Juvenile, Municipal and Common Pleas Courts when required; perform other duties of similar nature or level.Prepares and maintains daily logs, citations and detailed reports, logs evidence and determines the details to include in records; inventories and purchases equipment and supplies by performing price comparisons from vendors and working within budget requirements, conducts inventory checks and prepares inventory forms and purchase orders.Assists in presenting educational materials to groups to include bike safety, park ranger talks, talks about our parks, hunter education course, natural resource programs and assist with other departmental programs and events.Assists in maintaining park facilities by performing routine maintenance on park grounds and facilities; assist with preparations and clean up of departmental programs as needed. Minimum Qualifications Completion of core course work in an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field; 12 mos. of law enforcement experience; Must be 21 yrs. of age per Section 124.41 Ohio Revised Code; valid Ohio Driver's License. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for education and/or experience required. Education and Experience may not be substituted for mandated licensure/certification. POSITION SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:State of Ohio Peace Officer Certification;State of Ohio Firearms Certification;Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification;*First Aid Certification. *CPR certification must be able to obtain within 6 months of employment and maintained.There is a wide variety of benefits available to full-time permanent and some part-time permanent Greene County employees.
