The Division does this by positioning GEWE in the intergovernmental and multilateral fora, and engaging with governments and private sector corporations, foundations, and individuals as policy, program,me and resource partners.The Communications & Advocacy Section at UN Women Headquarters in New York supports the positioning of women's empowerment and gender equality as key issues on the international agenda. It establishes UN Women's role as the global authority in this context. This entails developing and promoting high-quality content, communicating about UN Women's work through digital and social media, and engaging a global audience online.Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Communications & Advocacy, the Social Media Specialist coordinates and oversees social media policies, strategies, and activities of UN Women especially as they relate to the Bejing30 campaign, and provides guidance and training to colleagues in the field and at Headquarters (HQ).Key Functions and Accountabilities:Develop and implement social media strategies around large events, initiatives, and corporate priorities: Develop and implement social media strategies in line with overall communications plans for campaigns, especially the Beijing30 campaign and other relevant international days, such as the International Women's Day. Oversee the development of social media assets for campaigns and events in collaboration with social media designer and multimedia team. Develop and disseminate social media packages for campaigns, relevant international days, and large events. Provide analytics and reports on social media implementation around specific campaigns. Coordinate social media partnerships.Manage daily social media outreach and engagement around UN Women's work and the issues of gender equality and women's empowerment: Oversee daily messaging and outreach on UN Women's global social media platforms (X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) and to increase visibility of the organization's work and its issues, especially around Beijing30. Ensure daily monitoring, community management, and engagement on UN Women's global social media platforms. Ensure an increase in UN Women's social media audience and engagement, Monitor and identify opportunities to tap into ongoing conversations, initiatives, and campaigns, especially around Beijing30. Provide regular analytics of social media outreach; Supervise consultants supporting social media outreach; Research new social media management and analytics tools, and lead the procurement processes as appropriate. Monitor the UN Women's Field Office social media account and amplify content on global channels as appropriate to ensure global representation.Provide technical and administrative advice Provide technical and administrative support and advice on social media account management to colleagues across regions Manage access to social media tools and accounts for colleagues across regions to enable global activations for Beijing30. Support the maintenance of files and records related to social media management Provide regularly updated social media guidance notes on the use of the different platforms; Troubleshooting account access Provide training to UN Women staff in the field on the use of social media for UN Women as well as personal accounts; Deliver presentations for other UN agencies/ departments to increase the visibility of UN Women's social media work, especially as it relates to Beijing30 within the UN system.The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organisation.Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities: This position reports to the Deputy Chief of the Communication and Advocacy and will work closely with the Social Media Specialist, the editorial, and the multimedia team. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.Experience: At least 5 years of experience in social media at the international level; Experience in developing and implementing social media strategies and campaigns is required; Experience in writing, editing, content production, and dissemination for social media audiences at the international level is required; Experience using advanced tools for social media management and evaluation, including content management systems and social media publishing tools, such as HootSuite, is required; Experience working in sensitive and fast-moving news, communications, or advocacy contexts is desirable; Experience producing and interpreting social media analytics to inform content production is required.Languages: Written and oral fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French or Spanish is desirable.
