PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Upon the successful completion of Initial License Training (including attainment of Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Reactor Operator (RO) License), operate the Nuclear Power Station in accordance with the Licensed Reactor Operators responsibilities as defined in the station operating procedures and in accordance with Operations Department and station policies and practices.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Trainee will engage in a combination of classroom instruction, simulator training and on the job experience to acquire the essential skill and knowledge to meet the qualification for a reactor operator license holder. 1. Completion of Fundamentals Phase a. Completion of Simulator Certification b. Acquiring RO Status c. Attainment of NRC RO License 2. Study time, field time needed to attain licensed status 3. Rounds, outage assignments or other duties as assigned to support site operations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school Diploma or GED. AND one of the following:

Non-Licensed Operator

Non-licensed operator experience performing nuclear plant operational duties (qualified for all power block and safety systems operational duties), Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) or Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR).

&bull For On-Site, Qualified, Non-Licensed: More than 6 months.

&bull For Comparable, Qualified, Non-Licensed (BWR to BWR or PWR to PWR): More than 12 months. For Noncomparable, Qualified, Non-Licensed (BWR to PWR or PWR to BWR): More than 18 months.

OR Licensed Operator

Licensed operator experience performing nuclear plant operational duties (qualified for all power block and safety systems operational duties), Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) or Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR).

&bull For Comparable Reactor (BWR to BWR or PWR to PWR): More than 6 months. For Noncomparable Reactor (BWR to PWR or PWR to BWR): More than 12 months.

OR

Military Reactor A minimum of 18 months of military reactor operations experience as one of the following (qualified to manipulate or direct the manipulation of control rods):

&bull Reactor Operator (RO)

&bull Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOW)

&bull Propulsion Plant Watch Officer (PPWO)

&bull Engineering Watch Supervisor (EWS) Propulsion Plant Watch Supervisor (PPWS)

OR Non-Nuclear Power Plant Operator

27 months of non-nuclear power plant operations experience.

&bull Must have a good practical knowledge of steam electric plant operation, particularly reactor operation, automatic controls and electrical switchboard operation.

&bull Must be able to clearly analyze situations and exercise sound judgment in emergencies.

&bull Must pass all validated aptitude tests.

&bull Must meet the requirements of the current INPO ACAD, Guidelines for Initial Training and Qualification of Licensed Operators

&bull May be subject to certification and recertification with periodic reviews if required by &bull NRC or industry standards. &bull Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of this position. &bull Must meet requirement of NRC physical and psychological testing regulations.

&bull Must satisfactorily complete Plant Access Training and complete the Radiation Safety Training including Respirator Qualifications and maintain unescorted access.

&bull Must complete and maintain fire brigade leader and/or brigade member qualifications based on operational needs. &bull May be required to obtain CPR certification based on operational needs.

&bull Must successfully complete the accredited Reactor Operator Training program which includes completion of the RO Qual book as determined by the company and obtain a reactor operator license.
