Overview The Receiving Clerk directs and coordinates all inbound and outbound shipment of goods and raw materials in a cost-efficient and productive manner, ensuring seamless operations and adherence to company standards. Responsibilities
  • Review and process open orders daily, ensuring timely shipment to plants.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally-both verbally and in writing-with employees, management, vendors, and drivers.
  • Oversee the review, stamp, and seal of Bills of Lading (BOL), ensuring proper documentation and coordination with truck drivers.
  • Serve as backup for overnight shipping, UPS, bills of lading, and general shipping duties.
  • Ensure the accuracy of finished goods shipments, verifying case counts, code dates, item numbers, and other details.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local regulations among shipping personnel.
  • Enforce adherence to quality standards, food safety protocols, and HACCP support programs, maintaining alignment with company, customer, and government standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Match packing slips with purchase orders, completing all necessary information.
  • Tag all incoming ingredients with raw material numbers, purchase order numbers, and date of receipt; coordinate receiving personnel for unloading and storage.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, management, customers, vendors, and drivers, providing directions to the plant as needed.
  • Resolve discrepancies between purchasing and accounts payable.
  • Maintain accurate inventory control, including conducting cycle counts and managing label inventories.
  • Manage the receiving, shipping, and distribution of UPS, FedEx, and other carriers, ensuring carrier information is up to date.
  • Handle purchase orders and resolve any related issues.
  • Manage receiving processes across all departments, ensuring proper documentation for the plant.
  • Organize ingredient paperwork for recall purposes.
  • Assist the supervisor in planning and coordinating warehouse workflow.
  • May lead the warehouse department in daily tasks under the direction of the shift manager.
Qualifications
  • Proficient in various types of forklift operations with a solid understanding of shipping and receiving processes.
  • Strong computer skills and excellent organizational abilities are essential.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate well with employees, management, customers, and vendors.
  • Previous experience in food warehouse management is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
Working Conditions/Environment Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility. Must be able to move 150 pounds a distance of 25 feet or more at various frequencies and or intervals. Must be able to stand for an 8 - 10 hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive tasks. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee may be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment. The noise level is loud in the plant. Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
