Job Summary

The Receiving Lead is responsible for guiding the loading dock team in the receipt, processing, and delivery of all incoming materials and equipment. The position requires effective knowledge and implementation of all established policies, procedures (SOPs), and use of tools and equipment that is required for material movement. We are looking for a candidate who excels in customer service, problem solving skills, decision-making, strong dock management skills, and solid written/verbal communication abilities. The ability to motivate and manage team members effectively, fostering a positive and productive environment. Additionally, this role requires a high level of organization and cleanliness to keep the dock area efficient and well-organized in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the dock area to maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensure bulk items and equipment are being stored in compliance with GxP standards and picked up in a timely manner.
  • Lead the receiving team in performing daily duties: log, deliver and track all received items, using the software package tracking system.
  • Main point of contact for escalation issues including unknown package recipient and delivery exceptions
  • Following customer service guidelines, respond to customer inquiries within required time frame.
  • Contact vendors for missing or incorrect information.
  • Set up transfer trucks to move large and bulk materials between buildings.
  • Order supplies needed for everyday functions.
  • Maintain accurate records of day-to-day shipments, courier documentation, and delivery issues/resolution.
  • Coach and develop associates, to include coordinating and scheduling cross training with team and new hires on all policies and procedures, as directed by the Services Manager.
  • Responsible for holding associates accountable for safety, quality control and time management.
  • Follow all processes established by Compass and the client.
  • Has working knowledge of emergency preparedness operations & Dangerous Goods awareness.

Safety:

  • Must have the ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods of time. Position requires bending, stooping, reaching up, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Wear all required personnel protective equipment as required and maintain a safe work environment. The Receiving Lead could be exposed to chemicals requiring special clothing or safety equipment (PPE).
  • Hours of operation are from 7:00am through 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Must be available to work an 8-hour shift in this timeframe. Overtime may be necessary; however, every effort will be made to provide advanced notice.
  • Must comply with Compass policies on ethical standards, business practices, confidentiality, professionalism, proper business etiquette and attire.

Qualifications

  • Excellent people management and leadership skills are required.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with calm demeanor is a plus.
  • Detail oriented to transcribe and quality check information.
  • Operational knowledge of all relevant equipment within the department.
  • Good communication, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Speaks clearly and concisely in a professional manner.
  • Ability to read and follow the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ability to perform Receiving functions as defined in the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Basic computer skills required, experience with shipping software a plus
  • Must be able to problem solve and delegate tasks in order to effectively and efficiently manage the department.
  • Basic understanding of GxP processes a plus.
