Job Description: Receptionist I Receptionist-Switchboard Performs operations at the switchboard/reception area with the use of multiline console telecommunication equipment. Greets and assists visitors by providing information and giving directions to locations on campus and notifying campus employees of visitors. Maintains a Visitor's Center for family members and friends of campus individuals. Capable of handling a high volume of calls on a multi-line phone system by answering, placing and transferring campus, local and long distance calls. Communicates with campus personnel including Transportation and Security by radio and pager systems. Acts as command center for communicating and relaying emergency information as required. Monitors and responds to Fire Alarm panel and other monitored alarms. Exhibits a thorough knowledge of campus emergency procedures and has the ability to respond effectively to crisis situations. Is familiar with various campus & departmental procedures and is able interpret and perform them in a timely and accurate manner. Performs clerical duties as assigned. May work any shift (6-2, 2-10,10-6 or 8-5) and any day of the week depending on needs of the department. Relief - All Shifts Essential Job Functions: Handles both incoming and outgoing calls on a high-volume mulitline switchboard. Monitors Fire Alarms and other monitored alarms and responds as needed Greets visitors and directs them in a professional manner as needed. Performs other clerical related duties as assigned. Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Relief - All Shifts Knowledge Skills Abilities: Must be able to work in a high-stress, fast paced environment. Professional demeanor and appearance when working with Individuals living at the facility, employees and vistiors. Ability to operate computers, communication radios and multiline switchboard equipment. Extensive experience with MSOffice suite of programs Ability to communicate effectively with others (both orally and in writing) Ability to work varied shifts and be available for on-call scheduling Ability to work closely with others in a variety of environments Ability to work any shift/day required based on needs of the facility. Registration or Licensure Requirements: N/A Initial Selection Criteria: Clerical experience is required Experience working with a multiline phone system in a fast-paced environment is preferred. Experience working shift work is preferred. Additional Information: Salary Note: The salary offered will follow HHS starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range. Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.
