Description
Under the direction of the Assistant Recreation Director, this part-time position assists in the operation of the Community Center and in the delivery of recreational programs and opportunities to the community.
Essential Functions (with or without reasonable accommodation)
* Assist in all aspects of recreation, athletic, and special event programs.
* Open, close and supervise the facility during business hours.
* Perform daily tasks such as cleaning, filing, sorting, answering phones, receiving the public and providing customer assistance.
* Set up, tear down, and clean up of recreational, athletic, special event programs, equipment, and activities.
* Utilize programming software, assist in scheduling facility usage, issue equipment and registering program participants.
* Responsible for but not limited to taking payment for facility rentals, membership sales, sports registration, recreation activities, and other transactions associated with the department.
* Responsible for entering data into a computer system.
* Ensure all department policies and procedures are followed.
* Assist in coordinating activities of volunteers.
* Respond to citizen inquiries, complaints and information requests.
* Assist the public, answer questions, provide direction, and direct phone calls.
* Interact in a positive, customer-oriented manner with patrons.
* Serve as a liaison between Recreation Department Management and parents/participants in recreation programs.
* Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Physical and Environmental Demands
* Work indoors, but occasionally outdoors during periods of hot, cold, windy and/or wet conditions.
* Frequently sit, stand and/or walk/move about the facility.
* Continually hear to communicate telephonically and face to face.
* Continually speak to communicate telephonically and face to face.
* Continually see to supervise the facilities, scorekeepers, time keepers and officials, operate office equipment, fill out paperwork, set up athletic equipment and perform room set-ups.
* Frequently use manually dexterity to operate office equipment, conduct room setups, and operate/set up athletic equipment.
* Lift up to 45 pounds occasionally.
Education, Training, License, Certification and Experience
* First aid and CPR certification.
* Must possess a valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Ability to operate office equipment such as a photocopier, fax machine and telephone.
* Basic knowledge of recreational and athletic programs and equipment.
* Ability to work with crowds, organize groups and deal with youth.
* Ability to calmly handle difficult situations that may arise with unhappy or dissatisfied parents.
* Ability to operate scoreboard and time keeping equipment.
* Ability to read and write proficiently.
* Basic math and money-changing skills.
* Basic computer skills.
* Basic supervisory skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with city officials, volunteers, members of the public, employees and patrons.
* Ability to work varying schedules.
* Ability to consistently maintain regular and dependable attendance.
