Recreation Day Camp (RDC) Coordinators train and supervise RDC Counselors, Temporary Program Assistants and Volunteers, and oversee the operation of the Recreation Day Camp (ages 5-11) and other children's programming activities and events. SCHEDULE

  • 40 hours/week, May 12 - August 12
  • May 26 is not a work day
  • July 4 and July 26 are required work days.
  • This schedule is weather dependent
  • Schedule is subject to change, at the discretion of the Park District.
Up to five days off may be requested off, if done so by May 30. Time off requests will be considered in the order they are received. Exceptions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be at least 18 to apply.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Must have a strong interest in working withparticipants and peers of all agesandspending time outdoors.
  • Must be insurable by the Park District to operate vehicles.
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY Recreation Day Camp (RDC) is a drop-off program for children ages 5-11 to attend at two community parks in Centerville and Washington Township. Staff will plan and lead a variety of recreation activities, sports, games, crafts and more for one or both age groups. Each week will be planned around a different theme. RDC staff will also work special events, various family programs and more. SPECIFIC DUTIES & EXPECTATIONS Administrative
  • Maintain accurate programrecords through attendance and record keeping fortheRecreation Day Camp (RDC)and all programs as assigned.
  • Submit weekly planning schedule of activities onThursdayfor the next week.
  • Prepare written evaluations of the programs.
  • Purchase supplies and follow internal purchasing procedures.
Programming
  • Plan & conduct a well-rounded program to meet the recreational needs of the children.
  • Plan a schedule of activities, games, crafts and special events to provide a fun experience for children in the parks. Demonstrate, lead and teach activities.
  • Supervise a group of15+children in a parksetting alongside other staff members.
  • Assist with special events and other programs conducted throughout the season.
Public Relations
  • Serve as a public relations liaisonwith the community.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of cooperation and camaraderie between program participants andstaff.
  • Conduct litter sweeps and safety checks at the parks.
GENERAL DUTIES & EXPECTATIONS
  • Attend all staff training sessions including CPR andFirst-Aid Certification.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants by maintaining a safe, clean andcontrolled area.
  • Enforce all park rules and regulations.
  • By setting an example, encourage proper use of parks andpark equipment.
  • Be responsible for all parkequipment issued to you.
  • Perform basic first aid asnecessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven experienceworking with children.
  • Proven leadership experience.
  • Exceptional skills in organization andcommunication.
  • Reliabletransportation to various park sites.
JOB FIT
  • Availability to commit to working Monday - Friday during summer camp hours for the entire summer.
  • Must work some evenings and weekends.
  • Staff must be able and prepared to work much of the shift outdoors
