Job Description :
This is a part-time position working up to 29 hours per week. Hours are not guaranteed and can be changed at anytime. This position is eligible for prorated personal time off leave and holiday leave. This position is not eligible for benefits. SUMMARY: The purpose of this classification is to coordinate recreational and athletic programs and activities for the community. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Supervises staff of employees, volunteers, sports officials, or other workers involved in recreational/athletic programs and activities; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with staff, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise.
  • Plans, coordinates, and assists in conducting various youth/adult activities involving sports leagues, recreational activities, day/after-school camps, and other programs; develops schedules for programs/activities.
  • Conducts program/activity registration; receives completed registration cards and reviews for completeness; enters participant registration data into computer database; maintains records of attendance in daily camp activities; calculates and collects appropriate fees.
  • Coordinates activities of sports officials, coaches, scorekeepers, and other staff; schedules/assigns staff to ensure adequate coverage of events and activities; processes documentation to certify coaches through GRPA; maintains current list of coaches; processes time sheets and payroll documents for sports officials.
  • Reserves use of community buildings, athletic fields, and related facilities for various activities; completes reservation and rental forms.
  • Performs customer service functions; provides information and assistance related to parks/recreational facilities, programs, special events, procedures, forms, fees, or other issues; discusses programs with youth and parents; distributes event schedules, registration forms, or other documentation; responds to routine questions, complaints, or requests for service; researches problems and initiates problem resolution.
  • Receives moneys in payment of program/class registration fees or other fees/services; records transactions and issues receipts; prepares bank deposits; forwards revenues as appropriate.
  • Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, lists, schedules, participant rosters, attendance sheets, payment records, inventory records, newspaper copy, misbehavior reports, discipline forms, accident reports, payroll documents, transportation reports, flyers, or other documents.
  • Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, building/facility rental forms, field rental forms, registration cards, payments, participant information sheets, permission forms, medication forms, emergency contact forms, time cards, coach applications, rule books, policies, procedures, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
  • Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes word processing, database, spreadsheet, program scheduling/registration, desktop publishing, or other software programs; performs basic maintenance of computer system and office equipment, such as backing up data or replacing paper, ink, or toner.
  • Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, sending/receiving faxes, making copies, filing documentation, processing incoming/outgoing mail, or running errands.
  • Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by 5 months previous experience and/or training or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the job. Certifications and/or Licenses: Valid Driver's License Required. Must possess and maintain a valid American Red Cross Certification in First Aid, CPR and must attain within the first six (6) months of employment. Must possess and maintain a valid American Red Cross Life Guard Training certification or attain within the first six (6) months of employment.
