Position Summary
The Recreation Therapy/Creative Arts Therapy Aide provides support to the Creative Arts Therapists and other clinical staff in the Behavioral Health setting. Provides recreation therapy groups designed to assist the patients to develop knowledge and skills needed for independent leisure/social activities. Provides assistance to the Creative Arts Therapy staff designed to help patients to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for independent, leisure/ social involvement, adjustment in the community, decision making ability and appropriate use of free time. Is competent to monitor and document the extent to which patient goals are achieved relative to the use of leisure time and acquisition of socialization skills. Assists the Creative Arts Therapists in providing treatment designed to improve the social, emotional cognitive and physical functional behavioral as necessary prerequisites to future leisure/social involvement. Assists the patients in learning skills regarding appropriate and helpful use of free time.

Qualifications
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, office staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Good vision and hearing. Mobility and dexterity of both arms and hands (or mechanical substitutions) to operate typewriter or computer keyboard, answer phones, open file drawers. Must be able to communicate orally. Must be able to transport patients by wheelchair.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBEILH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
