The Recruiter creates awareness and disseminates information about the programs of study at Southwest Tennessee Community College to prospective high school and adult students and the mid-south community through recruitment events held at area high schools, community events and programs hosted by Southwest Tennessee Community College.He/she may work some evenings and weekends as needed; travels between the two main campuses, site locations; and travels mostly within the state for attendance at professional meetings. He/she will need to be bilingual in English and Spanish.Job Duties* Inspires prospective students to take the first step in the college enrollment process and track each applicant through the enrollment process.* Manages a recruitment territory made up of area high schools, businesses and community events; provide monthly data and reports regarding enrollment funnel for the territory; conduct phone calls to prospective students; conduct campus tours and assist students and parents in the Admissions office.* Assists with advising new students and participate in New Student Advising Sessions to train students in the use of self-service web registration; advise students regarding class schedules, academic programs of study and support services* Enters prospect data into the student information system.* Conducts outreach and education programs for the internal and external community, promoting the mission of the division of Enrollment Services.* Works with recruiting team to plan schedules and strategies that support the overall recruitment goals of the college; assist with New Student Welcome each semester.* Provides support to the Director of Admissions, Recruitment, and K-12 Partnerships by maintaining data required for periodic reports as well as assisting with ongoing projects designed to support the goals and objectives of the division of Enrollment Management.* Works irregular hours including nights and weekends occasional.* May perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications* Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university* Academic preparation and training in student personnel services, higher education or a related field.* One year of experience in an admissions office or related area* Bilingual in English/SpanishPreferred Qualifications* Masters degreeKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities* Knowledge of database software; internet software; spreadsheet software, word processing software; and the ability to learn the student information system.* Knowledge of FERPA laws.* Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations.* Ability to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently; plan for additional resources; set goals and objectives; consider impact of actions on other departments; organize or schedule other people and their tasks; develop realistic action plans.* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.The intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as a declaration of the total specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.
